Whitinsville Golf Club…Cream of the Crop!
t was my good fortune on September 24 to interview Pro Mark Aldrich and Manager Frank Iannetta on Whitinsville Golf Club having been named “No. 2 best nine-hole course in the world” by GOLF magazine.
Honors are nothing new for the Donald Ross-designed, 6427-yard, par-70 layout, which dates to the 1920s, but this is by far the most prestigious one the club has received to date. “Everyone here got excited, obviously,” Mr. Aldrich and Mr. Iannetta said.
After our chat they allowed me to take a golf cart onto the course and obtain some photos. Here is what one expert had to say about Whitinsville Golf Club: “I strongly believe Whitinsville proves once again that bigger and bolder isn’t always better. This quiet nine-hole layout serves the community well. If every town had a Whitinsville you would have millions more Americans enjoying golf…”
Visited the Quaboag Book Shop in West Brookfield recently and learned to my chagrin after purchasing four books that Proprietor Jay Horgan’s shop doesn’t accept credit cards! Who carries cash these days? Anyway, headed back soon to give Mr. Horgan the business he deserves, and to add more collectibles and hardcovers to my growing library.
